This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product ExoMars spacecraft deployment. Illustration of the fairing being jettisoned from the Breeze-M upper stage after the launch of the European Space Agency's ExoMars spacecraft into orbit on 14 March 2016. This is followed by separation of the spacecraft from the upper stage (see image C029/1384). The ExoMars spacecraft (centre) are the Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) and Schiaparelli (yellow), the ExoMars Demonstrator Module (EDM) lander. The spacecraft will arrive at Mars in October 2016. TGO will look for methane in the Martian atmosphere. Schiaparelli will test landing technologies for the ExoMars rover (2018), and land scientific instruments on the surface.
