The genus Brissus connects the genus Spatangus withAmphidotus. It has the form of the latter with the 188 SPATANGACE^E. post-anal impression of the former, and a dorsal impressionpeculiar to itself. One British species, which I have calledthe Fiddle Heart-Urchin, on account of the peculiar shapeof the dorsal impression, belongs to it. The Brissus lyriferI cannot find described or figured in any author on thissubject.
