An edict of the Daoguang Emperor (reign 1821 - 1850), Qing Dynasty, dated 15 October 1845 Certificate of commendation issued to the parents of an officer. Fine calligraphy in Han Chinese and Manchurian, in the centre two slightly faded official seals with the emperor's name and date. Text written on white silk brocade backed with paper, the top and bottom of the edict in yellow and orange-red brocade. Dimensions 227 x cm.
