The fully restored, 1968 Jensen Interceptor Mk1, first owned by Eric Morcambe, on display at the 2016 London Classic Car Show

For sale here is a 1968 Jensen Interceptor Mk I in crystal blue with black hide interior. The car is chassis number 115/2977, it left the Jensen factory on and was delivered to its very first owner, Eric Morecambe. If you search "youtube" for "Morecambe and Wise Parkinson" you will see Eric talking about an unfortunate incident when he was driving his Jensen through Batley in Leeds late one night when he had a mild heart attack and sought the assistance of a young soldier to drive him to hospital. This is the very car. I have a copy of the Jensen factory build file which includes correspondence between Eric and the company. The chassis number is clearly stamped on a plate on the front crossmember. This Interceptor has recently been the subject of a comprehensive restoration by its Belgian owner. The body has been restored with new inner and outer sills and various other localised metalwork repairs. It has been repainted in its original colour of crystal blue. Both front seats have been retrimmed in black hide. The engine and drivetrain are in fine order and the car drives well and keeps good temperature. The brakes function correctly. The car is fitted with a full length Webasto sunroof that had been renovated. Stainless steel bumpers are fitted, these have been made to original specification. All suspension parts have been cleaned and repainted/rebushed. The original rostyle wheels are in excellent condition and all tyres are in good order. The Jensen Interceptor is a sporting GT-class car. Interceptors were hand-built at the Kelvin Way Factory, West Bromwich near Birmingham in England by Jensen Motors between 1966 and 1976. The Interceptor name had been used previously by Jensen for the Jensen Interceptor made between 1950 and 1957 at the Carters Green factory. Jensen had extensively used glass-reinforced plastic for the fabrication of body panels in the preceding two decades, but the new Interceptor saw a return to a steel body-shell.
