Devonshire Cottages
The engraving is of a painting by Albert F Bellows (1829-1883) an American artist of landscapes who started his career as an architect but took up painting as his life’s work. He worked in Paris and in Belgium and painted many English rural scenes. He was an Academician of the American Academy of Design and a member of the American Society of Watercolour Painters. He painted in oils and in watercolours later in his life. The scene in England, Devonshire Cottages, is typical of his work
