After getting his college degree, Mr. Kissack practiced his professionfor seven years in England, paying particular attention to sewerage. Hewas also engaged on coast defense work and in different branches of thegovernment ordnance survey under the officers of the corps of royal en- gmeers. Chicago attracted Mr. Kissack, and he moved to the metropolis of theWest in 1883. He was associated with John A. Cole as assistant engineeron municipal work in the suburbs around Chicago and in the constructionof the long tunnel under the bed of Lake Michigan for the Hyde Parkwaterworks. He joined the engineering department of the Chicago, Burlington &Quincy Railroad, in 1884
