25th June 2015, Northstowe near Cambridge UK: As construction work is underway on phase one, planning consent for Phase 2 of the new town of Northstowe was granted yesterday afternoon for a further 3500 houses by South Cambridgeshire District Council. The town is just north west of Cambridge and will be the largest new town to be built in the UK since Milton Keynes. When finished it will have up to 10,000 new homes and a population of around 25,000 people.
