Evening light on the ruins of Fast Castle on the Berwickshire coast in the Scottish Borders
Fast Castle (Castle Knowe) in the Scottish Borders. The ruins of this castle are located on an isolated promontory on cliffs located between Berwick and Dunbar and about 3 miles from St Abb's Head. The ruins are now connnected to the mainland by a narrow concrete bridge where once there would have been a drawbridge. The castle was originally destroyed during the 16th century. The location was used by Sir Walter Scott as a model for his description of "The Wolf's Crag" in his novel "The Bride of Lammermoor"
