With the16th Machine Gun Company he served throughout the war and was inactive service at the front until the early part of November, 1918, whenhe received wounds that claimed his life. Lieutenant Robinsons clean, manly life made him respected by allwho knew him, while his warm, unselfish friendship caused him to beloved by all who had claims on him. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. E. J. Robinson, two sisters, W. Pollock and Mrs. D. C. Cox, and two brothers, J. F. and G. [61]. EDWARD LAFAYETTE ROSE Edward Lafayette Rose, the sonof Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Rose, was born atSaulsberry, Tennessee, on July 26, early youth was spent in Saulsberry,Aberdeen, Mississippi, and Yazoo City,Mississippi. His early education was re-ceived from the public school of Aberdeenand the high school of Yazoo City. Aftercompleting the tenth grade in high school,he entered the freshman class in theschool of agriculture at the MississippiA. and M. College, September, 1915. Although his college career coveredonly one year, he made a very favorableimpression upon all with whom he came in contact. He was a goodstudent and popular with his professors and classmates. On May 7, 1917, he enlisted as an apprentice seaman in the navy,at St. Louis, Missouri. He was immediately sent to the Great LakesNaval Training Station for training, and was later, November 8, 1917,
