False-colour, computer-constructed perspective view of the Golubkina crater on Venus. The image was made from data acquired by the Magellan radar- mapping spacecraft in August 1990. Radar brightness data from Magellan has been converted into height data by a complex computer algorithm. The crater itself is the dark area in upper left, with a bright central peak typical of large impact cratering. The terraced nature of the crater walls is caused by their partial collapse after the impact event. Golubkina is about 34km in diameter and is located in high northern latitudes just to the west of the continent Ishtar Terra.
