INTERNAL EAR, DRAWING


The ear, organ of audition and balance. Internal ear enables the analysis of sounds and their transmission to the brain through the auditory nerve. It includes the vestibule, the semicircular canals and the cochlea. The external ear is composed of the auricle and the external auditory meatus. The external and middle ear permit the harnessing and transmission of sounds. The middle ear is composed of the eardrum, hammer, incus, stirrup and eustachian tube.
