A hundredyears have proven the substantialcharacter of the Market Streetchurch. The men of that day didtheir work well. Whether it wasa simplified copy of the NorthDutch church or not is notknown. It looks much likeit, tho the tower is simpler 24. The Kirk on Rutgers Farm and the two rows of windows in the Ful-ton Street building become one row ofgreat windows on Henry Street. But ithas all stood the test of time. The oldhand-hewn oak timbers still span the loftyceiling, the glistening gray stone wallsstill stand four-square against all thewinds that blow. The hand-made hingesand numbers are still on the pew doors,and the so-called slave galleries are stillthere, tho neither colored servants school children are consignedto them now. Hidden away, but stillthere are the hand-made laths, the shinglesunder the tin roof and the four-footthick foundations.
