Waseducated in the public schools of that city, and entered MiddlesexSouth District Registry of Deeds August 11, 1885, as messenger,under Charles B. Stevens, Register. Born at Royalton, Vt., November 5, 1819. In early life hebecame a citizen of Lowell, and was a compositor upon theLowell Courier. In 1854 he was a representative to the Legisla-ture, and in 1855 became the first Register of Deeds for theNorthern District. He was an active and consistent member ofthe First Baptist church of Lowell, of which he was deacon. HisChristian character is cherished by the church and the com-munity in which he moved to the present day. After l
