The ruffle which is shown surrounding this pillow matchesthe embroidery and is made of China silk folded double. Asquare of this silk is also required for opposite side of thepillow, unless a second piece of the embroidered linen isprovided. In that case another Mosaic pattern, worked ina different color of silk, would be effective. If China silk is used it will require one and one-half yards,twenty-four inches wide, for the square and the ruffle. Firstcut a piece eighteen inches square from one end of the silk; FL 46 FLORENCE HOME NEEDLE-WORK. then divide the remaining yard into five equal parts, cuttingthe material in the width. Stitch these together, making acontinuous piece nearly ten feet long. Fold this to
