The next step is to depress the pelvisand lower extremities, so as to allow theabdominal organs to drag the diaphragmdownward, and with the left hand to gentlybend the dorsal region of the spine back-ward. This enlarges the thoracic cavityand produces inspiration. (See Fig. 2.)
