SURIGAO STRAIT (July 3, 2017) The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86), from Destroyer Squadron 9, steams behind the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), July 3, 2017, in the Surigao Strait. Nimitz is currently on deployment in the 7th Fleet area of operations. The Navy has patrolled the Indo-Asia Pacific routinely for more than 70 years promoting regional peace and security.
