The baroque gatehouse circa 1670, of the Royal Citadel, home to the 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery. Built around 450 years ago it is the country’s best preserved examples of a seventeenth century bastioned fortress. Thomas Fitz designed the Portland Stone English Baroque gateway.
