JBrownish black, washed with white on joints 8 and 4, 8 to 10, streaked with white on the bases of the feet. Taborcles black, bearing small tufts of inconspicuous white hairs. The cast head-cases of the previous stages remain attached by the hairs of the cervical shield, forming a long string. Food-plants: Ilex, Lilac.—). Sect. II. Antennas of male ciliated. *3540. Head and thorax red-brown with an olive tinge; frons with black bar and white band above it; tegulse black ar, base edged with white above; patagia black and white at tips; pectus brown and white; legs white banded with black; abdomen brown mixed with white especially at extremity and below. Fore wing white; some black at base ; subbasal line represented by two black striae from costa and org from cell with a short fascia from its extremity ; a large round chocolate spot below costa before the black ante- medial line which is excurved in interspaces and angled inwards on.
