Walls of the corallites strong and without pores, the free portions covered by a continuous thick epitheca showing lines of growth. Small coral- lites often alternate with the larger ones. Septa obsolete or repre- sented by vertical rows of spines in cycles of 12. Tabulae well developed, complete and simple, more numerous in the smaller corallites. Halysites catenulatus (Linn.) (Fig. 39). Catenipora es- charoides (Lamarck) Hall (1852. Pal. N. Y. 2:127, pl- 35).
