Here in this photo you see Skuldelev 5, a Viking warship. It was built with wood from Denmark - oak, ash, and pine. In size, it was the smallest warship in the fleet. It was one of five Shuldelev ships, and dates to the latter part of the 11th century The five ships were skuttled to form a blockade near Roskilde Fjord by Skuldelev - hence the name. The Vikings were trying to protect their capital at Roskilde. All were excavated in 1962. They are now housed in the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, Denmark. This photo dates to 2013.
