This town has put on gala attire for Christmas shoppers it being carnival week; the merchants have sub- scribed liberally to the carnival fund and this has enabled the authorities to illuminate the town, using nearly 10,000 extra incandescent lights, so that it looks very brilliant when lit up. The florists expect to reap some benefit from it. Ira G. Marvin has, in his two grow- ing places, a fine lot of stock. His Kingston place never looked so well before; his carnations and roses are in fine shape, he has also a fine lot of poinsettias, azaleas and bulb stock. Mr. Marvin recently opened a general supply store in Scranton, J. E. Stern iDeing in charge. E. Moyer, of Forty Port, has a splendid lot of roses and carnations. Mr. Moyer started in business about five years ago, but he has built up a "business that has made it necessary to keep adding to his place, which is one of the best arranged around here. B. F. Dorrance's place is in great shape. Mr. Dorrance is the largest rose grower in this part of the state, roses and gardenias being his prin- cipal crop. Mooney & Weir, our esteemed lady florists, are making preparations for a great Christmas trade, expecting to have plenty of everything for the occasion. Everything points to a busy Christ- mas and the writer wishes everybody a merry Christmas and happy and prosperous New Year. A. W. Moore's greenhouses are look- ing well, with a general line of plants, as are also those of his neighbor, Gott- leib Bauman.
