PcltiiiUocJit'otills miti'iiieditit!. Type. in 3 series, about 50 in outer series of upper jaw; 3 series of scales on the cheek, width of scaly part much less than diameter of eye. Gill- rakers short and broad, 12 or 13 on lower part of anterior arch. Dorsal XIV 15-17; spines rather slender, rapidly increasing in length to the fifth or sixth, wliich measures \ length of head, then subfqvial or slightly decreasing in length ; longest soft rays f to | length of head. Anal III 7-9; spines much stronger than dorsals, third \ length of head. Pectoral as long as or a little longer than hctul, reaching vertical.
