This movementis almost imperceptible in a single year, yet in the course of thousands ofyears, some of the lakes have built up embankments as shown in this picture,five and six feet in height. The fact that these are always formed wherethe shore line is low, adds to the impression that these walls have beendesigned and built by man to raise the shore line and improve and protect thelake.
