Radiographic demonstration of themucosa offers proof conclusive of suchulcers, since the mixture invariably findsits way Into the pouch, however shallow, and adheres to this localized area. By this 532 The Roentgenographic Study of the Mucosa in Normal and Pathological States means, we ha\e been able to render a defi-nitediagnosis in an otherwise indeterminatecase. Further, such study affords valuableinformation concerning the ulcer, whichhas already been recognized in the usualway. The size of the crater may be moreaccurately determined, its margins morereadily demonstrated as well as the con-dition of the surrounding mucosa, and thedegree of cicatrization. The latter pointis distinctly shown by the course of therugae in the region of the lesion. Withsuch scarring is noted a puckering at the. Fic. Q. Again, therugae accompanying gastric ulcer maybe seen to be definitely enlarged, due tothe associated hypertrophic gastritis. Thismethod then oilers a more completeexamination of gastric ulcer and shouldassist materialh in interval studv to note the progress of repair during treatment ofthis condition. 2. The roentgen study of carcinoma of thestomach by the usual method is somewhatlimited by our inability to determineaccurately the extent of the infiltrati\e typeof lesion. As one might readily infer, thispoint is more definite
