The oil being rendered fluid by thus heating it, dirt, water, and other impurities readily settle and are drawn off through thefaucets near the bottom. After being thus settled the comparativelyclean oil rises on the inner side of the deflecting shield and as shownby the arrows passes through the filtering chamber which is filledwith compressed white waste. The bottom of the filtering chamberis a perforated cone covered with white waste.
