I in company with SecretaryPhillips I left Chicago for Galesburgand Monmouth, where we had alreadyplanned for all day conventions on the16th and 17th. At Galesburg we found a nice, quietChristian home, with Mrs. Royal Ham-mond. She is nearly 87 years of retains her mental vigor and moralcourage as one just in the prime of life. We were heartily welcomed to theSwedish Lutheran Church in which tohold our convention. Rev. Peter Peter-son is pastor. We next began to call onthe pastors of the city. We found eightwho were opposed to the lodge system. We learned, however, that one or moreof the Galesburg pastors are Free Ma-sons. Our first Sabbath was at Gales-burg. In the evening we preached to afull house for Rev. O. C. Bedford of theThird Congregational Church. We went to Monmouth and arrangedfor a similar convention in the SwedishLu
