First Roman Catholic priest to be named Chief of Catholics. Washington, , Dec. 23. Col. William R. Arnold today became Chief of Chaplains. The first Roman Catholic priest ever named to this post in the Army. He is a Native of Wooster, Ohio and was ordained a priest on June 8, 1908. He was appointed a Chaplain in the Army on May 7, 1913, with the rank of First Lieutenant, 12/23/37 Abstract/medium: 1 negative : glass ; 4 x 5 in. or smaller
