Thedriving wheels are 33 inf. in diameter, and thepony wheels 22 ins.; the axles are 4 ins. Thetrucks are equipped with 38-hp motors. Thesand-boxes, which are of the builders make,have extra large hoppers, occupying all theavailable space under the corner seats. PNEUMATIC RAIL SANDER RAILWAY TELEPHONES The accompanying cut shows some details of the Ham airsander, manufactured by the Ham Sand Box Company, ofTroy, N. Y. This sander has been in use on many railwaysduring the past two years, and is stated to be giving excellentservice. This sander possesses a number of special features, amongthese being the shelf for preventing sand from packing in thebottom of the box, the air space under the shelf and a ventpipe communicating with same for drawing off all moisturefrom condensation. The latter feature is a very desirable one,as moisture has been the cause of much trouble in sanders
