While on picket before Atlanta he was hit inthe head by a spent ball, and at the charge at Resacahe was slightly wounded in the right shoulder, but inneither instance was he incapacitated for duty. On receiving iiis discharge he returned to GratiotCounty, and soon after became interested in lumber-ing, which has occupied his attention since that pe-riod. He settled at Loomis, Isabella County, inOctober, 1882. He formed a partnership with J. , of Flint, and the firm are extensively inter-ested in lumbering.
