It will also be more power, when the low pressure cylinder is brought up to speedand connected in with the high pressure cylinder without stopping theplant. In case it becomes necessary to make repairs on the high pressurecylinder of engine No. 2, while the road is demanding full power ofengine No. 1, high pressure steam may be admitted to the low press-ure cylinder of engine No. 1, which it will be noticed from Fig. 1, isplaced next to the generator. By working high pressure steam in thelow pressure cylinder of this engine it will give its full power, thusdriving its FIG. 2.—SECTION SHOWING CLUTCHES. In order to prevent wear on the rings of the magnetic clutchesabove described, the following method of electrically starting the gen-erators is covered under this system: Suppose engine No. 1 and itsgenerator are operating, and engine No. 2 and its generator are stand-ing idle, and it becomes necessary to throw generator No. 2 upon en-gine No. 1, in order to repair something on generator No. 1. Insteadof starting engine No. 2 to bring generator No. 2 up to speed, or allow-ing the friction of the magnetic clutch to bring the latter up to speed, the following method is adopted: Current being produced from gen-erator No. 1 is passed through the armature and fields of generator No. 2, IQOOhP ENCINE N?2IOOOI-R
