Grazing used for beef cattle. Hands of a farmer inspecting the pasture being used by his beef cattle. This grazing is part of the Cool Brae beef cattle farm, Kircubbin, Northern Ireland. This farm is operated by Sam Chesney, winner of the 'Beef Farmer of the Year' category in the 2011 Farmers Weekly Awards. One of the reasons for the award was 'good grassland management', which included reseeding the fields and sampling the soils. The grazing was micromanaged, with the fields broken up into strips by electric fencing and monitored by computer.
