HARTLANDS GOLDEN QUILLED SUNFLOWER £ i SOLEIL DOR, AS DRAWN BY GERTRUDE This is one of the finest things in the whole range of Autumnal hardyblooming plants, and I am very pleased to be able to offer it to my friends inEngland. It begins to bloom a month in advance of the normal Anemone-flowered variety known to English traders as Helianthus miiltt/lorus flowers of Soleil dOr are all quilled after the manner of a Cactus Dahlia,the lights and shinies in such formation of quilling giving it a rich tone olorange, particularly towards the centre. As mentioned, it begins to bloomabout the first week in July, and keeps up a regular supply of its beautifully-formed flowers ujitil November, and it is probable that if plants were put intubs, and kept in a northern aspect nntil October, and then removed to a warmtemperature under glass, such plants would keep blooming until the middle ofDecember, as numbers of buds are annually nipped during the cold nightsout-o
