The average number of persons ineach family is In 1901, shortly after the homestead rush,the total population was 1,726, 1,364 of whom were in Swan River and362 in Minitonas. The gain in population for the decade 1901-1911was 2,084, or 1209f. Assuming that this rate of increase in populationhas been constant, the two municipalities should have now 5,754 per-sons. This is on the basis of a stationary population for the last threeyears in the village of Swan River.
