LONDON UNDERGROUND tube map diagram plan. Piccadilly extension. STINGEMORE 1931

Underground Railways of London. Artist/engraver/cartographer: Frederick Stingemore. Provenance: London Transport, printed by the David Allen Printing Co (London) Ltd. Type: Vintage diagram of lines pocket map issued by London Transport. This edition of the Underground map by Stingemore shows the Piccadilly line extension under construction from Hammersmith to Sudbury Town and beyond, and to Northfields; the extension to Northfields does not have a circle to indicate South Ealing Station and there is no longer a text box pointing to the Northfields extension although one is still used to mark the extension to Cockfosters. The front cover has details of places of interest and theatres on red linen with a card backing. The map includes the "Middle Circle", an underground train line using the West London Railway between Latimer Road and Earls Court, passing through Uxbridge Road and Addison Road. The line closed in 1940 following bomb damage. It was not reopened until 2008 as part of the Overground network.
