Nurseries (Horticulture) Catalogs; Flowers Seeds Catalogs; Vegetables Seeds Catalogs; Agriculture Seeds Catalogs; Agricultural implements Catalogs. We believe it is fully conceded that Corn is the very best, most economical, and the easiest crop cultivated to produce milk and butter. Of all the varieties grown we place first for quality Sweet Corn, then quantity and quality Southern or "Sou" Fodder Corn. If the farmer intends the crop to be placed in a Silo, we advise plant- ing as early as possible, for the nearer matured corn is the more sugar or saccharine matter it con- tains, hence the more valuable for feeding. The Silo should be hard pressed; the secret of perfect keeping is excluding the air as much as pos- sible. Jack screws are better than stone, and save much heavy lifting. So long as the air is kept from the ensilage alcohol or vinegar can no more form in it,than in the stomach o# a cow, for the cow's rumen or upper stomach is a minature Silo. If you notice, the cow gathers her food rapidly and with little mastication, into her stomach, there to remain until she has time to retire to some place of rest and quiet. It is then raised in the form of a cud and she pulverizes the half ground mass by thorough mastication, hence you see it pays to have a large stock of desirable food within reach of a milch cow that she may gather her fo6d with as little labor as possible. COKN FODDER, fills this place more perfectly and satisfactory than anything else raised on the farm, and when we take into account the enormous yield from 25 to 100 tons green fodder per acre, there is no crop that pays like Sowed Corn. Our stock for 1888 is the best we have ever offered. We are prepared to name low prices on car load lots or less. ». PERRY & CO., 33 Warren Street, Syracuse, N. Y. 3.
