The prefent volume is therefore ifllied in thebelief that it will not only be an addition of fomevalue to the literary criticifm of the year, butwill alfo aflift in gaining for the metropolis ofIreland a more diftin61: pofition in literature thanfhe has hitherto attained. The publication willferve to fhow that the fl:udies purfued in thisportion of the Empire are likely to leave per-manent refults, and will afford an earneft ofother, and yet riper, fruits to be gathered intime to come.
