Old fisherman mending a net on Nilaveli beach, east coast of Sri Lanka

The fishermen put out an enormous net from the beach and then haul it in. It is very hard work and they take it in turns to have a short rest and drink some water. They told me that it was not unusual to pull in the enormous net - taking over an hour - and find no fish.
