Etats Generaux de Paris' assembled in Paris cathedral, 1328 with Philip of Valois (1293-1350) presiding. Assumed regency on death of Charles IV until Charles' pregnant widow gave birth to daughter who could not inherit under Salic law. As Philip VI became first Valois king of France (1328).
