Chester Cathedral, St Werburg's shrine. Late medieval shrine, a rare survior of the sort once common in English cathedrals, mostly destroyed at the Reformation. Reconstructed 1873 by Sir Arthur Blomfield. Cathedral was formerly StÊWerburgh's Abbey church of Benedictine monastery.
