Donated by the Mexican Government in 1968. Hidalgo rang the original on the morning of September 16, 1810, during the revolution for Mexican independence from Spain. The mural in the background was designed by artist Eduardo Carrillo in 1979. This park has now had a refit, and the bell has been remounted.
