Portrait of Somerset born British actor, actor/manager and theatrical manager Sir Henry Irving (1883-1905). He was also known as John Henry Brodribb, (his birth name) and J. H. Irving. In 1895 he became the first actor to be awarded a knighthood. He is known for his close association with Bram Stoker, author of 'Dracula' and became a Freemason, being initiated into the Jerusalem Lodge No 197 (London). His ashes were buried in Westminster Abbey
