Atlanta has given and continues to give the country great surprises. Ithas not hesitated at a Worlds Fair, pronounced by many unsurpassed byany held ni America. It readily undertakes anything of value done by ourgreatest cities. But perhaps nothing so astonished the people of the coun-try and focused national attention as the bold feat of the city in the con-struction of modern office buildings. The country had scarcely quit talk-uig about the sky-scrapers of Chicago and Xew York before Atlanta em-barked in the business. If those cities could build them, so could Equitable led oft, a lialf million dollar structure, which freely elicitedpredictions that it would be the last. But it was no experiment.
