The percentage index of average flock size includes these and other conditions which cause a re- duction in flock size during the year. It also includes the effect of an increase or decrease in the number of pullets which are added to the lay- ing flock in the fall months. The average relation between tiiis factor and labor return per bird for the two years studied may be seen in Table 8 and Figure 3.
