A Cizhou stoneware meiping vase. The mouth has a tall flanged rim covered with blackish-brown glaze, which is carved through to show the reddish-brown sandy body. The decoration is in three parts, the middle section showing peony scrolls bordered by a band of stylised leaves in the upper part and an incised poem in the lower half in praise of uncorrupt officials.
