Flowers deep yellow with dark brown centre; pecu- liarly winged stems; August ; 2 feet high. Qrandicephalum Striatum. Of strong, robust, erect habit, grow- ing 3 feet high, with flowers about l1- inches in diameter, in large, branching heads, of a deep orange color, irregularly striped and blotched with crimson; July and August. Hoopesii. Bright orange-yellow flowers about 2 inches across, very showy, and the earliest to bloom, producing its flowers very freely from June to September, on plants 3 to 4 feet high. Pumilum. A most useful summer and autumn-flowering perennial, growing about 18 inches high and almost smothered with its golden- yellow blossoms. HEL,IOPSIS Orange Sunflower). Similar in general habit to Helianthus, but commencing to flower earlier in the season; of dwarfer habit, rarely exceeding 3 feet in height; very valuable for cutting. Pitcherianus. A desirable variety, growing from 2 to 3 feet high, and a perpetual bloomer, beginning to flower early in the season and continuing in bloom the entire summer.
