One of the finest roads in the world, Connecticut's Merritt Parkway, a 4-lane divided highway, was laid through a 300-foot, landscaped right-of-way between Westchester County, New York, and Milford, Connecticut, a distance of nearly 40 miles. It by-passes about 10 cities and towns, including Bridgeport, population about 150,000. All intersecting streets and roads are carried across on grade-separation structures. When more modern highways are built, one of the main improvements will be grade-separation structures of longer span so that dividing strips can be maintained at uniform widths throughout. State: Connecticut.
