In a list of prominent American breeders during the last twenty-five years of the nineteenth century high place should be accorded to the names of James Riley and I. N. Barker of Indiana, M. K. Prine of Iowa, A. J. Lovejoy of Illinois, and J. G. Snell of Ontario, Canada. The introduction of the Berkshire pig to America first took place in 1823, according to A. B.
