Indications are that fewer cases exist this year than is normal for season. (Ariz. Coop. Sur.). STATUS OF THE SCREW-WORM (Cochliomyia hominivorax) IN THE SOUTHWEST During the period September 8 - 14, a total of 49 infestations was reported from TEXAS; 92 from NEW MEXICO; and 37 from ARIZONA. Specimens were reported from 15 counties in Texas, 10 counties in New Mexico and 6 counties in Arizona. A total of 123,155,850 sterile flies was released during the period August 8 - 14. (Anim. Dis.
