Dębno Podhalańskie, Nowy Targ, Lesser Poland, Poland: view from south east of tower at western end of Gothic wooden church of St Michael the Archangel. The tower, with an overhanging storey creating a bell chamber, typical of the region, was added in 1601. The church was built in the late 1400s of larch logs and fir timbers secured by wooden dowels and without the use of nails; its steep roof and outside walls are shingled. The church was awarded World Heritage site status in 2003 as one of the UNESCO Wooden Churches of Southern Lesser Poland.
