The Fort Dix rappel tower is used to safely practice rappelling down a 60-foot wall. Rappel training is designed to prepare soldiers for missions where they may be required to fast-rope from a helicopter, scale cliff sides and other rough terrain, or gain entry to multi-level buildings in an urban environment. In addition to recreational uses, first responders along with military personnel utilize rappel towers as part of their tactical training.
